Art Pack: the colour recipes of a design frame saved under a name, to reuse on other frames and shots. Tick the layers to include (or keep «all»), name the pack and press «Create». Below – saved packs: click a pack to see its entries; click an entry to apply it to the selected layer(s); «apply by name» colours every layer whose name matches.

click a swatch → material recipe of the selected layer (its alpha stays) · Alt-click: the selected recipe point only · Shift-click: one flat tint on all points · a highlighted proposed region takes the colour instead

The model proposes an Art Pack and several coloured variants of this frame; you pick a variant (or single layers) and refine by hand or by instruction. Every pick is recorded.

Attention queue: what to look at first – propagation states, track confidence, new objects, colour checks (rule 4, saturation conflict, memory colours). Approval is a human act and is recorded per layer; any edit after approval returns the layer to «authored».

Final version

Only frames whose every painted layer is approved go into the final version (renders/final/); the other frames are listed below with the reason. Every run is a ledger row render.final.

Sound engineer. Load the film's soundtrack, conform the shots to it and split it into dialogue, music, effects and one file per voice. Tie sound sources to the frame: a layer, a point of the 3D relief or a place in the room. Propagate them through the shot. Below are the shot's event map, placements and clean-up. «Mixer & deliver» at the bottom mixes the shot into speaker layouts and a Dolby Atmos ADM master and delivers it to a loudness target. Every decision is recorded with your name.

3D: the frame as a relief from the depth service (depth map + camera per frame). The view starts where the film camera stood; drag to swing around it, wheel to dolly, shift-drag to pan, double-click to reset. Colour by grey, layers or the rendered colour. Export writes PLY per frame and a Blender script with cameras. There is no stub: without a depth service the tab only tells what to send. Sound sources of the shot show as coloured dots where they are on this frame, with their path as a line. «Place sound source» and a click on the relief add one.

The shot light rig is an authored value: key, sky and rim. Relighting changes chroma only, the film luminance stays put, so what the rig gives is the colour difference between the sources. With sources of the same colour the result equals a flat fill of the layer, and the panel says so. The rig can change along the shot: set it on a frame with «key at this frame», and between key frames it moves smoothly (the key frames are marked ☀ on the strip). Cast shadow is not known from normals: mark the layer that carries it, and it will darken the key only. Skin and hair layers get their own operators. Every change is a ledger row (light.rig, light.shadow, light.role).

The reel comes in as one long strip of frames; this is where it becomes shots. The search finds the breaks and separately offers hints – places where the jump stands well above the ordinary motion inside a shot but below the threshold for a change of scene. Nothing is cut until you say so, and the two marks you leave – a break the search missed and a break it invented – are kept with the frames around them, so the search can be tuned on real examples instead of opinions.

Proposals for the whole film

One background job asks the models for layer and palette proposals on every shot: on the design frames, or on the first frame where a shot has none. A frame that already has a proposal newer than its last change is skipped, so running the job again adds nothing. Your own requests to the models go first; each shot gets a prepare.run row in its ledger. Nothing is accepted – every proposal waits for you on its frame.

frames palette too

Scan clean-up before colour: dust and dirt, vertical scratches, brightness flicker, gate weave, noise (8-bit proxies for the models only), a lost frame between two neighbours, a tear by mask. The scan is never touched: every run writes a separate 16-bit frame set into the workspace, which can be opened as a new shot; every run is a ledger row restore.run.

operation frames

Spot removal by hand

Click the frame where a speck sits and the same point is carried across the neighbouring frames until the speck is gone. Dirt that stands still in the gate is invisible to the automatic pass – every neighbour carries it too – so the fill source is decided per frame: the aligned neighbours when they agree with each other and differ from this frame, a smooth solve with matched grain otherwise. Only the inside of the circle changes; the rest of the frame stays bit-for-bit. Every point lands in the ledger with the frame, the place and the radius.

A self-contained package for DaVinci Resolve: the coloured frames, a manifest and a generated script that creates the project, imports the sequence and builds the timeline. Colour stays in the frames. Nodes, Resolve FX and the Relight node are not scriptable at all, so the relighting stays here, where the film luminance is held fixed. Every package is a ledger row resolve.export.

prefer the relit frames project format

A package for compositing. Each frame is one multi-part OpenEXR: final colour, colour with alpha, Cryptomatte of the layers, scan, depth and a part per layer. Next to the frames: the camera and layer cards in USD, an OCIO config that names every colour space, each layer's recipe as a .cube and a CDL, provenance.json and an import script for the chosen program. Every package is a ledger row exchange.export.

Masks back from compositing

An EXR written by Nuke or Fusion with mask.<layer> channels (or a package layer part), or with the Cryptomatte channels and a list of layer names. The masks become a new revision of the frame; the layers turn «authored», one ledger row exchange.import per layer.

sound track

Frame file formats for three purposes: working per-frame outputs (scan, masks, depth, result), the render of the result, and the delivery package. The shot setting wins over the studio default, the studio default over the server flag --frame-formats. Every choice is a ledger row format.select. Scans are read in any supported format; the format is recognised by the file signature.

Per-frame outputs

Writes the scan (Y), the result (R, G, B), every painted layer mask and the depth map of each frame. OpenEXR keeps all of it in one file per frame; DPX, TIFF and PNG get a folder per frame, and depth stays in EXR only.

Reading and the OpenEXR bridge

Every colour decision is recorded with the artist's name (provenance = the IP record).

Authorship dossier

Counts the decisions in the ledgers of all shots: made by people, made on a model's proposal, model actions, approvals – and checks every hash chain. The export is a JSON file with its own SHA-256 and a page to read, for the copyright filing.
